Countable and uncountable nouns: क्या है काउंटिबिलिटी (countability) के दृष्टिकोण से noun दो प्रकार के होते है:
a) Countable nouns ( गणनीय संज्ञाएं)
b) Uncountable nouns (अगणनीय संज्ञाए)
(A) countable noun (काउंटेबल नाउन किसे कहते हैं) :-
Countable noun उन वस्तुओ को कहा जाता है जिन वस्तुओ की गिनती की जाती है अथवा गिनती करने योग्य noun उन सभी चीजों के लिए हैं जिन्हें हम संख्याओं (number)उपयोग करके गिन सकते हैं। countable noun singular and plural भी होते है ।countable noun में “a ” और “an” का प्रयोग होता है ।Countable and uncountable nouns LIST

- Singular noun -उन्हें कहते है जिनमे केवल एक ही वस्तु को काउंट किया जाता हो जैसे मान लीजिये – एक फ़ोन है तो हम केवल उसी फ़ोन के बारे में बात कर रहे है वह singular noun कह लाएगा।
- plural nouns – प्लुरल नाउन से तात्पर्य उस नाउन से होता है जिसमे एक के साथ बहुत सी वस्तुऐ मौजूद होती है जैसे पांच लड़के , बहुत से लड़के आदि।

- Coin, note, doller, rupees.

जब हम किसी चीज की QUANTITY जानना चाहते हैं तो उसका उपयोग “कितने” किया जाता है। यह केवल बहुवचन गणनीय
plural countable noun के साथ प्रयोग किया जाता है।how many का मतलब कितने या कितनी……? है,इसका use countable noun मे count के लिये किया जाता है।
Examples –
- How many books (कितनी किताबें है)
- How many films did you watch? (आपने कितनी फिल्में देखीं)
- Ans.I watched six films. (मैंने छह फिल्में देखीं)
- How many flights are there from here to Delhi? (यहाँ से दिल्ली के लिए कितनी उड़ानें हैं)
- Ans.There are only two flights.(केवल दो उड़ानें हैं।)
(B) Uncountable noun (अनकाउंटेबल नाउन किसे कहते है):-
जिन noun को count नहीं किया जा सकता हो, उन्हें uncountable noun कहते है । जैसे –
Furniture, clothes,money,water, ink, sugar, butter .
(not, a milk, one water, two sugar)
Example-
Furniture – अगर हम furniture की बात करे तो यह एक प्रकार से category का नाम है जिसे हम केवल बोल या समझ सकते है लेकिन इसे हम गिन नही सकते, हाँ यदि furniture में सोफ़ा, कुर्सी ,बैड आदि 2 या 3 हो तो हम इसे गिन सकते है ।
